ITINERARY

DAY 01: LISBON

Upon arrival at Lisbon airport, you will be assisted by your guide and depart for a panoramic tour of the village. Arrive at the hotel.

Overnight in Lisbon.

DAY 02: LISBON – OBIDOS – NAZARE – COIMBRA – PORTO

After breakfast, depart towards Óbidos – visit of this medieval village surrounded by the walls of its castle and typical for its white limed houses and wrought iron balconies, and on to Nazaré the most typical and colourful fisherman village in Portugal. By the northern motorway, you reach Coimbra, a charming university town, where you breathe in the atmosphere a mixture of students and the University itself. Arrive at Porto on the end of the day. DAY 03: PORTO AND DOURO VALLEY

After breakfast depart towards Douro Valley. The ever-changing hues of northern countryside will hold your attention along Douro Valley surrounded by a splendid colourful landscape where vineyards have their own special role to play. This is indeed the “Portwine region”! Admire and visit a farm that produces the Porto wine. Return to Porto. (B)

DAY 04: PORTO – LISBON

After breakfast, do a full day at Porto. Built on the right bank of the River Douro, Porto is a city, where the old features contrast with the new ones. Dona Maria Bridge was built by Eiffel. Enjoy a pleasant drive along the river to Foz with its own special character. Boat trip at the Douro river, to see the city in another perspective (+/-50 minutes). On the end, visit and taste in a Porto-wine cellar. In the afternoon, depart towards Lisbon. Arrival at the end of the day. (B)

DAY 05: LISBON – SINTRA – CABO DA ROCA – CASCAIS – ESTOIL – LISBON

After breakfast, in the morning, do a tour to discover the city, promenading in one of the typical old quarters of Lisbon, Alfama, walking through its narrow streets with Arab influences. Then, the Belem quarter, glimpse of the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower, both good examples of the 16th century’s Manueline style (gothic). Depart to visit the medieval village of Sintra, former Royal summer residence and chosen to inspire writers and poets, such as Lord Byron who named it “The Garden of Eden”. Proceeding to Cape “da Roca” – the westernmost point in continental Europe, the beaches of Guincho, Cascais and Estoril – renamed seaside resorts, returning to Lisbon along the coast. (B)

DAY 06: LISBON – PALMELA – EVORA

After breakfast, in the morning, depart towards a fantastic and highly personalized private wine tour to Azeitão (50 mins from Lisbon) led by wine specialists. Visit to one of the most antique and important wine caves in Portugal – Caves José Maria da Fonseca and time to taste the amazing “Moscatel de Setúbal” (the muscat). Continuation to Évora (1 hr 30 mins from Lisbon), a historic town considered a UNESCO world heritage. Due to its well-preserved old town centre, it’s still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple. Évora is also a member of the most ancient European towns network. (B)

DAY 07: DEPARTURE DAY

After breakfast, depart towards Lisbon airport (3 hrs 30 mins)
