The historic city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with narrow alleys, charming squares, and ancient granite buildings, some dating back to the Middle Ages. In the afternoon, join an optional excursion into the green side of the city (Alameda Park). In the evening, board the legendary Al Ándalus luxury train with its Belle Époque interiors, comfortable suites, and elegant salons from the 1920s. Early morning arrival in Astorga, once known as Asturica Augusta. Then explore León, an important stop for pilgrims on the Way of St. James, including the Gothic cathedral with 70-meter-high towers. Continue into Castile and León to Ávila, one of the best-preserved medieval walled cities in the world, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
